The ongoing measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 have resulted in little football of late and, consequently, next-to-no movement in the latest ranking globally. There are no changes in the top five teams in the world with Belgium still in number one position. World Champions France, Brazil, England and Uruguay completed the list of Top Five teams.A whole raft of international fixtures, including qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup and other major tournaments, were postponed, while dates were redrawn for showpiece men’s events such as the Olympic Football Tournament, CONMEBOL Copa America and UEFA EURO.The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 11 June 2020.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram The position of Nigeria’s Super Eagles has remained unchanged in the latest FIFA rankings released Thursday in Zurich, Switzerland.Three-time African champion Super Eagles retained their 31st position globally and 3rd best in Africa.Senegal’s Teranga Lions are holding on to the summit of African football from the last rankings and are followed by Tunisia in second position. For champions, Liverpool, they have a pretty tough start to the season with a trip to Chelsea, a match against Arsenal and a Merseyside derby in their first five games.Man City have to contend with matches against Wolves, Leicester and Arsenal while Man Utd face only Tottenham from last season’s top 6 from last season in their first five matches.Aside from their Week 2 match against Liverpool, Chelsea will also take on Crystal Palace and Southampton in their opening fixtures.Take a look at the first 5 PL Fixtures for last season’s Top 6 and ArsenalLiverpoolv Leeds (H)v Chelsea (A)v Arsenal (H)v Aston Villa (A)v Everton (A)Man Cityv Aston Villa (H)v Wolves (A)v Leicester (H)v Leeds (A)v Arsenal (H)Man Utdv Burnley (A)v Crystal Palace (H)v Brighton (A)v Tottenham (H)v Newcastle (A)Chelseav Brighton (A)v Liverpool (H)v West Brom (A)v Crystal Palace (H)v Southampton (H)Leicester Cityv West Brom (A)v Burnley (H)v Man City (A)v West Ham (H)v Aston Villa (H)Tottenhamv Everton (H)v Southampton (A)v Newcastle (H)v Man Utd (A)v West Ham (H)Arsenalv Fulham (A)v West Ham (H)v Liverpool (A)v Sheffield Utd (H)v Man City (A) Next season in the Premier League promises to be one of the most exciting in recent history. It’s hoped that it will, at the very least, be more competitive than the last campaign which saw Liverpool walk away with the title. It’s certainly shaping up to be a more unpredictable season with Chelsea and Man City already making high-profile signings, Man Utd chasing big-name targets, Liverpool keeping their title-winning squad intact and FA Cup winners, Arsenal hoping for a much better league campaign. With the release of the new season’s fixtures, all the sides in the Premier League sides have a fair idea of what they need to do to ensure they are in a decent-enough position come May.The fixtures will be particularly interesting to the teams hoping to make it into the Top 4 this season and those hoping to remain in it.More from Citi Sports

Donegal County Councillor Gary Doherty has today severely criticised the Government for not including St Mary’s National School, Stranorlar in its six year Capital Plan.Cllr Gary DohertyThe school has previously received site and planning permission for a new building and it had been hoped that funding would be earmarked for construction to begin during the term of the next Government but this has not materialised.Speaking today, Sinn Fein’s Cllr Doherty said “I was extremely dissapponted to learn that St Marys N.S., Stranorlar was not included in the the five year Capital Programme. It should be painfully clear to all stakeholders that this school should be top of any funding and building programme which comes online but unfortunately that has not been the case.” He continued “St Mary’s is the biggest National School in the Finn Valley and one of the biggest in the County. It has seen enrolment figures increase year on year, including an intake of 70 Junior Infants this year. At present, 170 children in the school are in prefabricated accommodation, and only four of the twelve permanent classrooms have toilets or running water. That is a situation that cannot be allowed to continue, and it is inexplicable that this Government has ignored these figures when compiling the new Capital Plan.“The Capital Plan includes a figure of €3 Billion explicitly earmarked for a school building programme. Parents in the Twin Towns deserve answers as to why their school was not included.”UPROAR AS STRANORLAR SCHOOL IS SNUBBED BY GOVERNMENT was last modified: October 7th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)
