As we navigate through the last two months of a year that has been defined by such phrases as “unprecedented,” “the new normal,” and simply “it’s 2020,” it is challenging to focus on the future.But we must plan because the credit union industry is categorized as an “essential service,” deemed necessary to remain not only open, but relevant, nimble and useful for a nation that’s grappling with what is yet to come.In the blink of an eye in mid-March, we found ourselves halting all intended plans for the year as we were forced to take a detour through unchartered territory. We went from being an industry somewhat good at providing virtual financial services to needing to become experts at it, and fast. We stopped focusing on spring campaigns and turned our marketing efforts to round-the-clock and rapidly changing member and community communication wherein we provided messages of reassurance that we are still here for those we serve. And at times, we struggled to stand behind those words and take them to a new level, striving to live to the fullest extent of our industry’s mantra, “people helping people.”To sound like a broken record—it has been quite the year, to say the least. But I’ve always believed that when hardships are shared, we learn valuable lessons and can choose new opportunities to explore. Mojo Maritime, a part of James Fisher Marine Services (JFMS), has, together with Ecole Centrale de Nantes, enabled Floatgen to supply energy to the French electrical grid from the SEM-REV marine energy test site, near Le Croisic in France.Ecole Centrale de Nantes and Mojo Maritime worked at the Floatgen floating wind turbine, which is one of the few prototypes installed in the world today, to replace a defective connection box which was preventing an electrical connection to marine energy converters.Ecole Centrale de Nantes installed the subsea connection hub, to which three demonstrators can connect simultaneously on the SEM-REV site two years ago.However, final validation checks on the connection revealed an insulation defect on one of the phases of the 25 km long underwater cable, which had to be repaired to ensure it wouldn’t jeopardize future projects and was ready to supply energy to the French electrical grid.The Ariadne offshore construction vessel was chartered for the task. The 8MW electrical connection is now operational and will start supplying its first kWhs this summer, the company noted.Mojo Maritime France project manager, Maxime Morandeau, said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Ecole Centrale de Nantes on this project. To optimize operations we used Mermaid for accurate modelling and scenario planning, which reduces the risk of any unexpected situations or costs, and meant that the project was completed according to plan.”

They however, rebounded nicely, winning their last two encounters at home by commanding margins. The two hammerings – one against Tridents on Sunday evening, and the other against St Lucia Stars on Tuesday evening – boosted the Warriors’ morale, heading into their final two games. However, with the playoffs on the line, the Warriors must be at their best in all three departments of the game, since playing their oppositions in their own backyard would not be an easy task.The Warriors’ batting was a huge let-down for the first six games, but judging from their last two performances, the batting seems to be hitting peak form at the right time.The options they have in the bowling department are their greatest strength so once the batting can complement that top-class bowling department then positive results are predictable in the remaining two games.
