“Your left, your left, your left, right, left!” Marching in perfect synchrony is the first thing every soldier must learn. Many recruits consider the exercise an annoying way to teach obedience, but drill sergeants say marching produces better soldiers by improving not just discipline, but also morale. According to a study published online today in Biology Letters, the drill sergeants may be right. The researchers started by making the male subjects walk 240 meters. They were randomly chosen to walk either at their own pace or in synchrony with another male. After that they were shown a “criminal”—a mug shot of an angry male face—and asked to fill out a survey about their feelings. As previous studies have shown, walking in synchrony made men slightly happier and more friendly toward their fellow marchers. But surprisingly, the synchronized marching also affected how the subjects perceived the physical attributes of the criminal. After marching, men judged their foes as smaller and weaker. So if you’re feeling intimidated, find a buddy and go marching. It really will boost your morale. As a bonus, if you have thousands of buddies willing to march, like these North Korean soldiers on parade, you’ll be a terrifying spectacle.
Advertisement AdvertisementThe biggest event on the internet took place last month between British Vlogger KSI and controversial American Youtube star Logan Paul at the Manchester Arena in London in a Boxing match. The undercard also included Jake Paul who is the brother of Logan Paul and Deji, who is KSI’s younger sibling. It was truly a historic and biggest event ever made on the internet as they both have 37 million subscribers combined.Jake Paul emerged victorious as he knocked out Deji and now it looks like Jake is biting more than he can chew, as he said that he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather.Right…after the exhibition match against Deji, Jake Paul wants to fight FloydIn an article recently published by Hollywoodlife, a source close to Jake Paul told them in an interview that, “Jake would love to get in the ring with Floyd because he knows that it would turn out very lucrative for him”.“Though many would think it was a joke – and Jake would easily get decimated quickly — he knows that there is a huge payday for anyone that gets in the ring with Floyd,” the insider tells HollywoodLife.com. It’s all about the money, it seems, and if there’s anyone who can talk as much trash as Floyd, it’s a Paul brother. “[Jake] would love to use his social media presence and the hype machine that Floyd provides to make a fight between the two happen.”However, last month after beating Deji, he talked about fighting American Rapper Chris Brown and he said during the post-fight interview:“I want to call someone out,” said Jake after his match. “Chris Brown, I know you were supposed to fight Soulja Boy. But I think it is time you got in the ring with someone your own size.”‘I wanna keep on fighting, I love the sport. So, Chris Brown, I wanna see you,’ he added.Although, I doubt Floyd Mayweather would even entertain Jake Paul considering he is chasing a nine-figure payday against Manny Pacquiao. Also Read-Boxing: Canelo Alvarez to potentially return to the ring on Dec.15
NEW YORK — Hal Steinbrenner had just started his quarterly State of the Yankees session when he asked to switch places with reporters and stood near the side of the lobby at Major League Baseball’s headquarters.“This feels better,” the New York owner said with his back to the wall. “Very fitting.”A minute later, a security guard asked Steinbrenner and the media to step outside. That’s what happens when your team is last in the AL East at 16-22.Steinbrenner backed manager Joe Girardi, his coaching staff and general manager Brian Cashman on May 18 and blamed players for the team’s poor start, which bottomed at 9-17.Mark Teixeira, Chase Headley, Michael Pineda and Luis Severino were singled out for criticism, and Steinbrenner also praised Headley, Starlin Castro and Aaron Hicks along with Girardi, Cashman and pitching coach Larry Rothschild.“The coaches are doing a good job,” Steinbrenner said. “These are professional athletes. They’re the best baseball players in the world, and sooner or later it comes down to them, on the inside, to push through whatever it is they’re going through and to persevere.”Far less tempestuous than father George Steinbrenner, who goaded the team from his purchase in 1973 until nearly the time of his death in 2010, Hal discussed the Yankees analytically — but with hope.“Needless to say, the first five weeks were disappointing, frustrating, particularly looking at the offense,” he said. “Clearly not living up to their potential.”Teixeira, a three-time All-Star first baseman, started the day with a .211 average and 11 RBIs.Headley didn’t have an extra-base hit until May 12. After going 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA as a rookie, Severino is 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA and is on the disabled list with a triceps injury. Pineda is 1-5 with a 6.60 ERA — 102nd among 104 qualifying pitchers in the major leagues.Steinbrenner’s comments:— “When you look at a guy like Mark Teixeira, clearly he’s not playing to his potential with the bat.”— “Chase Headley, same thing. Now you’re starting to see him hit, see him more relaxed. He’s making harder contact. That has to continue.”— “Pineda is concerning — all these strikeouts and yet he’s given up these runs. Clearly he’s giving up runs early. Clearly there’s been issues with his slider. Again, Larry can only do so much. Whatever technically is wrong with the delivery, Larry’s going to work on, but the rest is up to Pineda to figure out. He’s a professional and that’s what we expect from him and that’s what his teammates expect from him.”— “We all know Severino has good stuff. I’m not worried about his stuff. We saw that the last two months of last year. We’ll see about the injury and how much that played into his performance the last few outings. I also think there was a confidence issue at some point. He is a rookie. This is his first downturn, if you will. … Every player is going to have to learn how to push through that downturn the first time and get through it. And he will.”“I don’t think it’s a flaw in the way the team is put together,” Steinbrenner said. “I think the team we have this year is better than the team we had last year.”Speaking in Phoenix before the Yankees played Arizona, Girardi understood Steinbrenner’s sentiment.“If I was the owner, I’d be frustrated, too,” the manager said. Now 46 and his hair starting to gray near the temples, Steinbrenner put off questions about what he would do if the Yankees are far from contention as the Aug. 1 deadline approaches for trades without waivers. After missing the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time in two decades, New York returned last October only to lose to Houston in the AL wild-card game. For their first 22 home games, the Yankees averaged 38,587 fans, on track to surpass last year’s average of 39,992 given the larger crowds that usually show up when school is out.“Season tickets are slightly up, which is the first time in four or five years that that’s been the case,” Steinbrenner said.“I don’t know if it’s making the playoffs one game or not. I don’t know if it’s some of the young players, Hicks, Castro, (Aroldis) Chapman, some of the guys we brought on. I don’t know. But the fans have been excited.”He talked about the need for the Yankees to always have veteran stars, even as they add younger players. He looked ahead to prospects such as first baseman Greg Bird and pitcher James Kaprielian, who are both hurt, and shortstop Jorge Mateo. He said another run of consecutive World Series titles may be more difficult with the parity caused by revenue sharing and the luxury tax, but he thinks it still is possible.“Sooner or later it comes down to” — he stopped, and tapped a hand over his heart three times.New York won six World Series titles while George Steinbrenner was in charge. Hal, whose only title since taking over came in 2009, knows the standard dad set.“If my name wasn’t Steinbrenner, I wouldn’t be here,” he said. “I don’t look at this as something I deserve. I’ve been given this. It’s a gift. I respect it, and I enjoy it.”(RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer)TweetPinShare0 Shares
Greek shipping and logistics company NewLead Holdings has bought and leased five bitumen tankers, expanding its fleet to ten vessels in less than a year.NewLead bought three bitumen tankers, the 5887 dwt Captain Nikolas I, the 3,416 dwt Nepheli and the 2,888 dwt Sofia, for a purchase price of approximately USD 21 million, to be paid through a combination of equity and debt financing. The other two bitumen tankers, the 3,370 dwt Ioli and the 3,337 dwt Katerina L, were added to NewLead’s fleet following two separate bareboat/leasing agreements. NewLead has the option to buy the two tankers at any time during the duration of the bareboat/leasing agreements, but has the obligation to buy both vessels at the end of the charters for a minimum of USD 6.05 million together with the payment of any remaining unpaid trade debt on both vessels.NewLead will pay around USD 4.23 million for the delivery of the last two tankers, financed through the issuance of shares of common stock of the company.Four of the five vessels, the Captain Nikolas I, the Nepheli, the Ioli and the Katerina L, were built in 2009 and the Sofia was built in 2008. NewLead has been managing the Captain Nikolas I and the Sofia for over a year. The remaining three vessels were delivered to NewLead’s fleet at various times during the fourth quarter of 2014.The gross earnings from the employment of all five vessels are expected to be USD 12.65 million per year. All five vessels are expected to generate an aggregate of approximately USD 5.61 million of EBITDA per year assuming an aggregate of USD 7.04 million of yearly operating expenses.Four of the five bitumen tanker vessels are trading on the spot market and the Nepheli is on a period time charter until August 2015.Michael Zolotas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NewLead, said: ”Today, NewLead’s average fleet age is 7.39 years compared to 17.84 years at the beginning of 2014. NewLead invested in young, high quality sophisticated bitumen tanker vessels to capture opportunities in emerging economies and niche markets with relatively low competition. NewLead’s long term relationships with oil majors and fuel oil companies will allow responsiveness to market opportunities as well as support its commitment to continue to grow its fleet.”
zoom A slow moving low pressure system is bringing severe weather conditions off Australia’s New South Wales coast, prompting port closures at Port Kembla and Sydney and the imposition of restrictions in Newcastle, GAC reports.Port Kembla remains closed with monitoring of the port entrance to continue. The port will re-open when conditions ease, which may not be until April 23. The port has been experiencing winds in excess of 40 knots at stages and high seas at the entrance and approaches to the port, making boarding operations, ship handling and tug operations extremely hazardous. In the Sydney area, Port Botany and Port Jackson have been closed since 8 am local time today (21 April). Monitoring will continue, but the ports could remain closed for next 48 hours. Destructive winds, heavy rainfall and very heavy swell is expected to continue throughout today. The port entrance at Newcastle will be set as Heavy with selected restrictions in place for up to the next 12-36 hours, pending further inspections.
HALIFAX — A federal Justice Department report that led to the release of a Halifax man wrongfully convicted of murder is expected today.Lawyers for 63-year-old Glen Assoun say the release of hundreds of pages of documents means the public is going to learn information never put before juries and judges.A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge agreed to release the report after a case launched by The Canadian Press, CBC and the Halifax Examiner.Assoun was wrongfully convicted of slitting Brenda Way’s throat on Nov. 12, 1995 — sending to him to a federal prison where he’d suffer beatings, heart attacks and depression for a crime he’s now exonerated of.The federal assessment of the case, prepared by the criminal conviction review group, became the basis for Justice Minister David Lametti declaring a miscarriage of justice had occurred in the 1999 jury trial.Lametti took the unusual step of noting that “reliable and relevant evidence” was never disclosed in Assoun’s criminal proceedings.Justice James Chipman declared Assoun innocent on March 1 after the Nova Scotia Crown dropped its case.Assoun’s lawyers, Phil Campbell and Sean MacDonald, have requested that Chipman black out the names of three informants who provided evidence to Innocence Canada, on the basis that their safety might be at risk. The Canadian Press

Rabat – The allegations relayed on pages of social networks claiming that “elements of the auxiliary forces in Imzouren have threatened to collectively abandon their positions,” are false and unfounded, emanate from individuals seeking to mislead the national public opinion, said Thursday the Ministry of the Interior. “Some pages on social networks have reported false allegations and misrepresentations about certain elements of the auxiliary forces in Imzouren who have allegedly threatened to abandon their positions collectively,” the ministry said in a statement. “What has been relayed is unfounded, an obvious lie and an insidious fabrication of facts and events, and is part of the designs of certain individuals seeking to mislead public opinion,” added the same source. Over the weekend, many demonstrations have been reported in the provinces near Al Hoceima, notably in Imzouren and Beni Bouyaach. Solidarity rallies were also held in other northern cities, such as Tangier and Nador, as well as in Rabat and Casablanca on Tuesday. According to a final official account, since Friday, police have made about forty arrests aimed essentially at the core of the “hirak”. Since the start of the “Hirak,” social networks have been another battlefield for the protesters. The Ministry of Interior published on Wednesday’s evening a call for “vigilance” against the dissemination of official information falsely attributed to it on social networks and instant messengers.
Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Trade and Industry has said the North African country has reached nearly 81 percent of its goal in the Industrial Acceleration Plan (IAP) to offer new job opportunities through industry. The ministry said that, between 2014 and 2018, industries created 405,496 jobs, 49 percent of which are held by women. The automotive industry recorded the strongest job creation. The sector created 116,611 jobs in the time period, representing 28.8 percent of all new jobs in the time period. The ministry said that the sector is still growing. The automotive sector is followed by textiles with 79,300 jobs created (19.6 percent), offshoring with 69,932 jobs (17 percent), and agribusiness with 63,198 jobs (15.6 percent). The metallurgical and mechanical industry created 19,776 jobs or 5 percent, while the building materials industry created 11,302 jobs.Despite the importance of the sector in Morocco, the aeronautics field created only 8,636 jobs.Read Also: Oxford: Vocational Training, Industries to Increase Morocco’s EconomyMorocco’s IAP set a target for the aeronautics sector to create 23,000 new jobs by 2020.In October 2018, the industry ministry argued that the aeronautical industry in Morocco is a promising sector, emphasizing that it is “fast moving,” and counting the international companies that have built plants in Morocco. In addition to listing the most impressive sectors in Morocco’s economy, the study, quoted by Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), said that Morocco’s exports increased from MAD 161 billion in 2013 to MAD 240 billion in 2018, an increase of 50 percent in five years.Integration of youths through vocational training, a must“The strong positioning of the industrial sector as a lever for job creation and the professional integration of young people is now strongly supported by the deployment of Vocational Training, driven by King Mohammed VI,” added the ministry.Throughout recent years, King Mohammed VI suggested that vocational training might be an important solution to reduce unemployment and integrate youth into the job market. On Thursday, the King chaired a meeting at the Royal Palace of Rabat, in which Minister of Education Said Amzazi made a presentation about the government’s plans to offer vocational training hubs for youth.Amzazi informed the King of a roadmap for the development of vocational training and the creation of “cities of professions and skills” in every region in Morocco. The cities of professions will include multi-sectoral facilities where youth can receive training on several fields. The Ministry of Industry said that the “roadmap, which restructures the offer of vocational training and equips the 12 regions of the kingdom with ‘Cities of Professions and Skills’ will meet a growing need for targeted profiles in the industrial sectors.”
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Bad-boy ex-pharmaceutical company CEO and prolific social media user Martin Shkreli has been muzzled.A new lawyer in a federal securities fraud case against Shkreli told reporters outside court on Wednesday that his client would stop speaking out in his own defence until the charges are resolved.“We want to try this case in the courtroom and not in the media,” defence attorney Benjamin Brafman said with a silent Shkreli at his side following a pretrial hearing in Brooklyn.Shkreli, 32, gained notoriety last year after a drug company he founded, Turing Pharmaceuticals, spent $55 million for the U.S. rights to sell a life-saving medicine called Daraprim and promptly raised the price from $13.50 to $750 per pill. The spotlight intensified last year when he was arrested on charges related to a hedge fund he once ran. Prosecutors allege that after he lost investors’ money through bad trades, he looted Retrophin, another pharmaceutical company where he was CEO, for $11 million to pay back his disgruntled clients.Since the arrest, Shkeli has frequently turned to social media and news outlets to lash out at his accusers. In an interview on Fox Business Network this week about his expected appearance before a congressional committee investigating the price of drugs, he said he’d like to “berate” and “insult” Congress — but instead will take the Fifth Amendment. On Wednesday, a prosecutor told the judge that the value of a brokerage account used to secure Shkreli’s release on $5 million bond — mostly invested in a biotech business once operated by Shkreli — had declined and that more collateral may be needed if it goes down any further. Brafman said it wasn’t surprising the account took a hit.“There’s nothing like an indictment to affect shares of stock,” he said.Shkreli’s other assets most notably include the only copy of a Wu-Tang Clan album titled “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” which the hip-hop group sold on the condition that it not be released publicly. He said he paid $2 million for it. Former Turing Pharmaceuticals CEO Martin Shkreli, center, listens as his lawyer Benjamin Brafman, left, speaks to reporters as they leave court in New York, Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016. Shkreli, who has become the poster child of pharmaceutical-industry greed after hiking the price of an anti-infection drug by more than 5,000 percent, is scheduled to appear at a congressional hearing on Thursday. “The renewed upsurge in fighting represents a callous and blatant disregard of the pledges made during the 25 March 2017 IGAD [Intergovernmental Authority on Development] summit to implement a ceasefire and to facilitate humanitarian access,” said a statement issued overnight by Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General. The statement also urged all sides to cooperate with the UN and other humanitarian actors to ensure safe access to all civilians in imminent danger along the West Bank of the River Nile.“There can be no military solution to the crisis in South Sudan,” the statement emphasized, expressing hope that regional and international partners will join in encouraging the parties to return urgently to the negotiating table. The United Nations remains committed to working with the African Union and IGAD to secure a peaceful resolution of the conflict, the statement added.Meanwhile, the first elements of the Regional Protection Force of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have started to arrive in the country, according to a note to correspondends issued today by the Mission. The deployment of the 4,000-strong force was authorized by the UN Security Council in its Resolution 2304 (2016).UNMISS says the force will provide protection to key facilities in the nation’s capital, Juba, and the main routes into and out of the city. It will also strengthen the security of UN protection of civilians’ sites and other UN premises. The deployment of the force, to be staged over coming months, would free existing UNMISS peacekeepers to extend their presence to conflict-affected areas beyond Juba.Despite the August 2015 peace agreement, South Sudan slipped back into conflict due to renewed clashes between rival forces – the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) loyal to President Salva Kiir and the SPLA in Opposition backing former First Vice-President Riek Machar. At a Security Council meeting earlier this week, David Shearer, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and the head of UNMISS, noted that the opposition has since splintered, making it necessary for UN peacebuilding efforts to be more widely cast than previously. He reiterated the need for a political solution.

It’s Black Monday — the day after the NFL’s regular season concludes — when 20 to 25 percent of teams (usually of the non-playoff-bound variety) have historically begun their offseason by firing (or otherwise parting ways with) their head coaches. This year, the New York Jets have fired Rex Ryan, Mike Smith is out in Atlanta and Jim Harbaugh left the San Francisco 49ers in a mutual split. Further changes may be coming.Teams don’t take these coaching changes lightly, but for all the focus on the coaching carousel, it’s been difficult for researchers to figure out how much who’s wearing the headset matters.Teams that change coaches have a strong tendency to improve the following season, which could be taken as prima facie evidence that swapping in a new coach makes a profound difference. But it also could simply be the residue of regression to the mean. A poor record is generally required for a team to consider dismissing its coach, but much of the differences in NFL team records is due to luck and not the comparative skill levels of the teams themselves. When that luck evens out, the team appears to improve, even if its underlying skill didn’t change all that much. And this phenomena is essentially what the research on NFL coaching changes has found. Although the average team to change coaches since 1994 has seen its winning percentage improve from .383 to .428 the next season, that’s mostly regression to the mean at work. In fact, once we account for the teams’ previous Elo ratings and the inexorable pull that a .500 record exerts on NFL teams from year to year, there’s little evidence that changing coaches helps teams at all.The aforementioned sample of teams had an average Elo rating of 1437 at the end of the regular season with their old coach, which tends to translate to a .463 winning percentage the following year whether a team changes coaches or not. But the season after making the change, those teams averaged a .428 winning percentage — about 35 points lower than we’d have expected based on their previous Elo ratings. This may speak to broader institutional issues that are correlated with coaching changes but beyond the influence of the coach himself, such as dysfunctional ownership, a poor general manager or players who consistently win less than point-differential-based metrics would predict. These types of findings lend credence to the theory that NFL coaching changes offer franchises little more than the illusion of control over their future. While it may feel satisfying to fans and owners to fire a coach after a disappointing season, it’s tough to quantify the real benefits of such a move — if any even exist.
Keane has scored 54 goals – 33 more than Niall Quinn, a distant second on the all-time scorers’ list – in 122 international games. He lies just three games short of Shay Given’s record haul, and will surpass it. He was Ireland’s record goalscorer at the 2002 World Cup, and has scored away against Germans, the Dutch and the French.Detractors claim he’s a flat track bully, only scoring against mediocre opposition or in ‘meaningless friendlies,’ but 34 of his 54 strikes have come outside of non-competitive matches and Nations Cup games. He has done it when it mattered. So, what is it?The goal celebration?Eric Cantona used to stand, collar up, scowling at his Manchester United audience and remains one of that club’s, nay football’s, great icons. Gareth Bale’s loveheart affectation is nauseating in the extreme, but you’d be hard pressed to find a more heartily praised player in the Premier League. REMEMBER THE TIME Robbie Keane broke into your house, spray-painted lewd graffiti on the walls, ate all the Corn Flakes, got your granny drunk and took your girlfriend for a joyride? No?How about the time he walked out on the Irish team to meet up with the lads to go disco dancing in Ayia Napa?Or if that doesn’t ring any bells, maybe you’ll recall the tantrums, the training ground bust-ups, the missed friendly internationals, the assault allegations, the strike threats, the roastings, the missed drug tests, the spit spats and all the other events that haven’t composed the life of Ireland’s own answer to Pol Pot.I just don’t get why Robbie Keane is not lauded as Ireland’s greatest player, or at least on a par with Paul McGrath, Liam Brady, Roy Keane, John Giles. The statistics are oft-repeated. Is it Keane’s litany of clubs? The cumulative transfer fees?Never mind that he has never been responsible for the money paid for his services, bear in mind that Kevin Kilbane – our ‘Killer’ – numbers nine clubs in his career to Keane’s ten.To accusations that he has never stuck around anywhere long enough to build an affinity with any set of fans, look at his first spell with Spurs.Look at his reasons for leaving Inter Milan (Marcello Lippi was sacked), Leeds (financial meltdown), Liverpool (barely given a chance). Nowhere can Keane be accused of running down a contract, refusing to go out on loan or refusing to play.Could it be the ‘favourite club while growing up’ thing? The myth goes that Keane has said this about every club he’s played for in the last five years, the truth being that he only claimed it for Liverpool and for Glasgow Celtic.Well, same here, and same for many young lads growing up in Ireland in the 1980s and 1990s, the difference being that this writer couldn’t kick snow off a rope.Yes, he said it was a “dream come true” to join LA Galaxy from Spurs, but show me a 30-year-old that wouldn’t fancy a move to Hollywood, the good weather, the chance of bumping into Jeremy Piven in the street, the bit of adulation. Is he just a bit too cocky?Well, that Kevin Doyle does seem like a lovely fella by comparison. How’s he getting on?The conclusion can only be begrudgery, that standard Irish thing, that revulsion at success and Keane’s failure to apologise for it. The sheer cheek of his talent and steadfast refusal to throw it all away. We just love a fallen idol, but we’ll greet one of the most committed and loyal of all of Ireland’s players with a loud and resounding ‘meh.’And still expect him to turn up.Gavin takes a stand against plan to divide Dubs >

SEOUL, South Korea — In a first, North Korea on Tuesday fired a ballistic missile designed to carry a nuclear payload that flew over Japan and splashed into the northern Pacific Ocean, officials said. The aggressive missile launch — likely the longest ever from North Korea — over the territory of a close U.S. ally sends a clear message of defiance as Washington and Seoul conduct war games nearby. In a statement, U.S. President Donald Trump said North Korea had signaled its “contempt for its neighbors” and that “all options are on the table” in terms of a U.S. response.South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile traveled around 2,700 kilometers (1,677 miles) and reached a maximum height of 550 kilometers (341 miles) as it flew over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. The distance and type of missile tested seemed designed to show that North Korea can back up a threat to target the U.S. territory of Guam, if it chooses to do so, while also establishing a potentially dangerous precedent that could see future missiles flying over Japan.Any new test worries Washington and its allies because it presumably puts North Korea a step closer to its goal of an arsenal of nuclear missiles that can reliably target the United States. Tuesday’s test, however, looks especially aggressive to Washington, Seoul and Tokyo.North Korea has conducted launches at an unusually fast pace this year — 13 times, Seoul says — and some analysts believe it could have viable long-range nuclear missiles before the end of Trump’s first term in early 2021.

The burglary occurred Friday morning while Liz and Daniel Bermudez were at work. With a popular security app known as “Ring,” a video camera inside the doorbell recorded a man calmly strolling out of the front door; carrying expensive handbags and other stolen items including watches, jewelry, and most distressing of all, Liz’s wedding rings. The couple who moved into the house just six months ago believed the intruder may have entered through a small window in the living room. The thief apparently ransacked the couple’s bedroom, cleaning out jewelry boxes, taking handbags from the closet, and breaking into a safe which held valuable papers. Most alarmingly, two handguns with their magazines were also among the items stolen from the safe“The guns are out there with somebody that is doing this in broad daylight. Now, he’s armed. Now he’s got two guns on him,” Daniel said, after immediately contacting the police. The couple showed us the outline of a hand still visible on a window screen, but he left no fingerprints behind because the man was wearing gloves. Two security cameras connected to a Cox Homelife monitoring system were also stolen. Daniel said he called Cox and was told that the system appeared to stop working around the time of the burglary. In the doorbell video, an SUV which resembles a Ford Expedition is visible in the background as the thief leaves the house. The car initially backs up and then speeds away.“With getting my story out there and people watching it, I have a great feeling that something good is going to come out of this and hopefully, that’s catching him,” Liz said.
